Welcome to my page of quotations about hot chocolate, hot cocoa, and drinking chocolate. ‘Chocolate’ used to refer to a beverage used medicinally, more bitter than the hot cocoa we know and love today. As it caught on as a sweeter beverage enjoyed leisurely, it was served in chocolate houses, similar to coffee shops, and was even the basis of some social clubs.
